Common challenges
What makes senior living connectivity hard
Code-mandated ERCES compliance
Fire code requires reliable first-responder radio coverage throughout the building. A failed grid test means a failed inspection, and life-safety exposure.
Resident amenity Wi-Fi
Connectivity is now an amenity residents and families expect, in units, common areas, and everywhere in between.
Older, RF-blocking construction
Concrete, masonry, and metal in older buildings kill radio and cellular signal, leaving dead zones exactly where coverage matters most.
Life-safety first
Compliance you can show the fire marshal
Fire code does not grade on a curve, first-responder radios must work on every floor, in every stairwell. WZC owns ERCES end to end, then layers resident Wi-Fi and cellular coverage on the same disciplined RF design.
- Grid testing, design, install, and AHJ approval, one accountable partner
- UL 2524-listed platforms with battery backup and supervision
- Coverage engineered through concrete, masonry, and metal construction

How WZC helps
Life-safety compliance and resident connectivity, handled
WZC engineers coverage through the hardest construction, and took a 15-story senior-living high-rise from 51% public-safety coverage to 100% compliance in four days.
Resident and staff Wi-Fi, cellular coverage through concrete floor plates, and the ERCES the fire code requires are designed as one RF plan, so they share pathways and headend space instead of competing for them.
- ERCES compliance owned end to end, grid testing, design, install, AHJ approval
- Amenity Wi-Fi residents can rely on, from units to common areas
- RF engineering that works with older, signal-blocking construction

What this buyer asks us
We have an ERCES that was installed years ago. Is it still compliant?
Only if it has been re-tested. IFC 510 and NFPA 1225 require an annual grid re-test by a qualified vendor, with battery and alarm verification, and most AHJs want the report on file. Senior living has the largest installed base of ageing ERCES of any vertical we work in, and a system that passed in 2016 has almost certainly drifted. We take over systems other vendors installed.
Can you work in an occupied building?
Yes. Residents stay in place. Work is scheduled floor by floor, corridors are cleared and re-opened the same day, and we coordinate with your staff on notice to residents and families. Clawson Manor, a fifteen-story occupied co-op, went from a failing benchmark to 100% passing in four days.
Who is responsible: the owner, the management company or the board?
The building owner carries the obligation, but in a co-op or a managed community that is a question of your own documents rather than of the fire code. What matters practically is that somebody has to hold the annual test, the report and the AHJ relationship. We can hold all three under Compliance Care.
Operating more than one facility? We standardize the design and repeat it, with one point of contact for the portfolio and one set of drawings every site is built from.
