Careers & the technician network

We are always talking to people who measure first

WZC runs on two benches: the engineers and project staff who design and deliver the work, and the field technicians we dispatch nationwide. Both are built by talking to good people before we need them, not by posting a job when we are already short.

Two ways in

Which of these is you?

  • The technician network

Field technicians and small crews, anywhere in the country, taking dispatch work: installs, break-fix, surveys, rollout waves. You keep your own business; we bring scoped work with a number agreed before you travel and a close-out standard you will recognise if you have done this for anyone good.

  • Staff roles

RF engineers, project managers, NOC and service-desk staff, and installation crews, based in or around Novi, Michigan. We are a small firm where the person who designs a system is the person who answers about it, which is the job in one sentence, and whether that appeals tells you most of what you need to know.

What we look for

The standard is the same one clients are sold

We tell clients every technician is vetted, badged, insured and briefed before arrival, and held to a close-out standard. That claim is only true if it is true of everyone, which is what this section is about.

  • You document what you did

Photographs, test results and a same-day report, every time. A dispatch that was completed but not documented is a dispatch that did not happen as far as the client's file is concerned, and on compliance work, as far as the AHJ is concerned.

  • You measure before you conclude

The habit the whole firm is built on. A meter reading beats an opinion, on a grid test and on a fault call, and the technicians we keep working with are the ones who reach for the meter first.

  • You can be let into a building

Background-checked, badged, insured, and able to carry yourself on a hospital ward, a plant floor or a municipal site without anyone having to supervise you. That standard is published, and clients hold us to it. See what we promise them

Introduce yourself

Tell us what you do

No openings to apply for and no portal to register on. Tell us what you do, where you are based and what you are certified on, and we will keep it on file and come to you when there is work that fits.

What happens next

  • A person reads it

Not a keyword filter. A small firm can still do this properly, and we do.

  • A conversation, not an interview loop

One call about what you have actually done and what you want to be doing. If it is a fit we will say so; if it is not we will say that too.

  • Vetting, then work

Background check, insurance and licenses verified, badge issued. Then scoped work with a number agreed before you travel. Subcontractors: we pay on agreed terms, per dispatch, against a signed scope. No net-90, no chasing.

Before you write

Are there openings right now?

This page does not list any, and that is deliberate: we would rather not advertise a role we are not actively hiring for. What is always true is that we keep a file of technicians and engineers we would like to work with, and we go to it first.

Do I need to be local to Michigan?

For staff roles, generally yes, the office and most of the crews are in and around Novi. For dispatch work, no: the technician network is nationwide and the whole point is that somebody good is already near the site.

What certifications do you want to see?

Whatever you have, and honestly. BICSI, NICET, manufacturer certifications, OSHA, a low-voltage license, tower climbing: all useful. None of them matter as much as being able to show how you document a job.

Do you take on crews, or only individuals?

Both. A small crew with its own insurance and equipment is often exactly what a rollout wave needs.
